Mission
The T. C. Harrison STEM Scholarship is committed to empowering the next generation of African American innovators, leaders, and changemakers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Through financial support, mentorship, STEM camps, and hands-on STEM activities, we strive to remove barriers to educational opportunity while expanding access for underrepresented groups in the Hampton Roads area who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and a passion for advancing the STEM community.
We are dedicated to fostering equity, inspiring achievement, and creating pathways for students to thrive in higher education and future STEM careers. In addition to supporting high school scholars, we provide engaging STEM camps and enrichment activities for primary and secondary students to introduce, nurture, and further develop STEM curiosity, creativity, and confidence at an early age.

Our vision is to create a future where African American students are equipped, inspired, and empowered to lead and innovate in STEM. Through education, mentorship, and early STEM engagement, we aim to strengthen our communities and create lasting generational impact.
About Us
The T. C. Harrison STEM Scholarship is a non-profit that was founded with a heart for community and a passion for progress. We are dedicated to uplifting African American students in the Hampton Roads area who are chasing their dreams in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Our story began with a simple but powerful goal: to provide the same support and opportunities that fuel innovation to those who need it most.
We proudly serve our local scholars through strategic scholarships and meaningful mentorship, helping them navigate their academic journeys with confidence. Through sustained investment in education, mentorship, STEM enrichment programs, and academic excellence, the T. C. Harrison STEM Scholarship aims to cultivate a legacy of achievement, innovation, and generational impact.
By inspiring curiosity in young learners and supporting emerging scholars, we seek to strengthen the STEM pipeline, uplift our community, and create lasting impact for generations to come. At T. C. Harrison STEM, we don't just fund education; we invest in the leaders and changemakers of tomorrow.
Scholarship Eligibility
Academic Standards
Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5
Provide an official acceptance letter for undergraduate study from an accredited institution for the current application year.
Service & Leadership
Show active involvement in community service projects outside of school.
Submit a letter of recommendation from a teacher, coach, school administrator or community leader.
Personal Narrative
Write an essay titled: "Why I deserve this scholarship."
Submission Dates
Applications must be postmarked by May 4, 2027 and received by May 7, 2027. Open to local high school seniors for undergraduate studies only.
Our Hampton Roads scholarships are promoted through local high school guidance counselors.
